This Privacy Policy explains how Listings Biz (“Listings Biz”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit listingsbiz.com, create an account, or list a business. If you have questions, email us at info@listingsbiz.com.

1. Summary

Business listings are public. Anything you put in a listing (name, logo, description, business email, phone, address, website and social links) can be seen by anyone.
Your account details (your name, login email and password) are private and never shown on your listings.
We use Matomo for visitor statistics. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell your personal information.
You can edit or delete your listings at any time and ask us to delete your account.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

Account: first name, last name, email address, password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form) and an optional profile picture.
Business listings: business name, tagline, description, logo, category, country, business type (local or online), business email, phone number, address, postal code, website and social media or app store links.
Messages: anything you send us by email, including support requests.
Preferences: whether you want to receive news and offers from us, and your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions (with the date).

Information collected automatically

Usage statistics (Matomo): pages visited, referring site, browser and device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and time spent on the site.
Security data: your IP address and browser details when you log in, register, reset a password or submit a listing. We use this to stop spam, block repeated failed logins and limit automated abuse.
Listing views: we count how many times each listing is viewed. The count is anonymous: we do not store which person viewed which listing.
Email records: for emails we send you (for example, approval or password-reset emails), we keep the recipient address, subject, date and whether delivery succeeded.

Information from others

If you choose “Sign in with Google”, Google shares your name, email address, profile identifier and whether your email is verified. We never receive your Google password.

3. How we use your information

To create and manage your account and log you in.
To publish, review, approve, reject or suspend business listings.
To send account and listing emails, such as a welcome message, submission received, listing approved or rejected (with the reason), password reset, or a notice that a submission was blocked.
To send occasional news and offers, only if you have not opted out. Every such email has an unsubscribe link.
To protect the site and our users from spam, fraud, fake listings and unauthorized access.
To understand how the site is used and improve it.
To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar laws)

Contract: to provide your account and publish your listings.
Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and measure site usage in a privacy-friendly way.
Consent: for marketing emails and, where required by law, for analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

5. What is public

Approved listings, including their contact details and logo, are visible to anyone and may be indexed by search engines and AI services. Only add contact details you are happy to make public. Your personal account name and login email are not shown on listings unless you enter them as business details yourself.

6. Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, and only as needed:

Hosting provider: stores the website and its database.
Email delivery provider: sends account, listing and newsletter emails.
Matomo: processes visitor statistics.
Google: only if you use “Sign in with Google”, if a security check (CAPTCHA) is enabled on a form, or when a listing page shows an embedded Google Map. These features load content from Google, and Google’s privacy policy applies to them.
Cloudflare: if a Cloudflare Turnstile security check is enabled on a form.
Gravatar (Automattic): if you have not uploaded a profile picture, a Gravatar image may be shown, based on a hashed version of your email address.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the website, in which case this policy would continue to apply.

The “Summarize this content with AI” buttons on listing pages open ChatGPT, Grok, Google AI, Perplexity or Claude in a new tab with the page address. Nothing is sent to these services unless you click a button, and their own privacy policies then apply.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Essential cookies are needed to log in.

8. How long we keep information

Account information: until you delete your account or ask us to delete it.
Listings: until you or we delete them. Deleted listings stay in the trash for up to 30 days so they can be restored if deleted by mistake, and are then permanently removed.
Email records: 90 days.
Security data (such as failed-login counters): minutes to hours, then deleted automatically.
Statistics: kept in Matomo according to its retention settings.
Backups: may hold copies for a limited time before they are overwritten.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Edit your details: go to Account → Edit Profile.
Edit or delete listings: go to Account → My Businesses.
Stop marketing emails: click “Unsubscribe” in any newsletter, or untick the option in Edit Profile.
Anything else (a copy of your data, or account deletion): email info@listingsbiz.com from your account email. We respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, protection against repeated login attempts, spam and bot checks on forms, and restricted access for our team. Account pages are never stored by page caches. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

11. International transfers

Listings Biz serves users worldwide. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our hosting and service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.

12. Children

Listings Biz is for businesses and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will notify account holders by email or with a notice on the site.
